LAHORE: Chief Minister’s Adviser on Information Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan on Friday visited folk singer Shaukat Ali at his Johar Town residence and presented him a cheque worth Rs0.2 million as financial assistance.

The folk singer has been suffering from heart problem. He was treated at a Sindh government facility on special instructions of PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari when reports of his ailment and his inability

to afford the treatment cost were aired by the media.

Ms Awan said she was very sorry to learn that the singer had to go outside the province for his treatment while the Punjab government was distributing health cards across the province.

She assured Shaukat Ali that the Punjab government would discharge its responsibilities regarding his treatment besides offering him financial assistance.
