KARACHI, Oct 4: An eight-year-old boy died in a road accident in Korangi on Tuesday. Police said Muhammad Usman was playing near his house in Korangi 100 Quarters when a speeding truck hit him. The boy died instantly. Police said the errant driver escaped.

In another incident, an elderly man was crushed to death beneath a locomotive near Drigh Colony Railway Station on Tuesday morning.

Police said the victim was identified as Muhammad Safdar, 75.

They said that the elderly man was apparently trying to cross the railway tracks ahead of the train.

Police shifted the body to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for postmortem examination.

DROWNING: An unidentified man drowned in the Hub canal on Tuesday.

Police said the victim was taking bath in the watercourse when he lost balance and was swept away.

The body had not been retrieved from the canal till evening.

ARRESTS: Police arrested two suspects at an ATM outlet and seized two pistols and a stolen motorbike from them in the Mithadar police limits.

DSP Gul Hameed Samoo was passing through I.I. Chundrigar Road when he saw two men suspiciously standing near an ATM outlet of Bank Al-Habib. He stopped the vehicle and frisked the two. One of them tried to flee but was arrested. Police recovered the two TT pistols and the stolen motorcycle (LOF-7687).
