KARAK: An alleged terrorist was killed and a constable suffered injuries during an encounter in Dabb Hakeemkhel village of Karak tehsil.

Police sources said on Friday that acting on a tip-off about presence of some terrorists the police raided a house in Dabb Hakeemkhel. The police contingent was headed by SHO Asif Sharif.

Seeing the police, the inmates opened firing on them, leaving a constable injured. In the ensuing encounter, an alleged terrorist, identified as Hafeezullah of North Waziristan district, was killed, while his accomplice escaped.

The police recovered one Kalashnikov and a pistol during search of the house. They have launched a search operation in the area to arrest the other suspect.

The police registered an FIR of the incident in Karak police station under sections 15AA/353 and 324 of Pakistan Penal Code against the accused and have started investigation.

PDM RALLY: On the call of Pakistan Democratic Movement leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman, political workers took out a rally in Karak city here on Friday to protest against the arrest of PDM workers in Multan.

The rally led by Maulana Mirzaqeem turned into a public meeting at Saddam Chowk. The speakers criticised the government for its crackdown on political workers in Multan and registration of cases against PDM leaders in Peshawar.
