KARACHI: Police authorities on Friday ordered taking ‘serious steps’ for removal of encroachments causing traffic jams in the metropolis.

This and other orders were issued by Karachi police chief Ghulam Nabi Memon, who chaired a meeting about traffic problems and their resolution at his office.

DIG Traffic Javed Mahar and all SSPs traffic attended the meeting and gave detailed briefings about causes of traffic jams and their solutions.

The participants were informed about the spots where smooth flow of traffic was adversely affected mainly on account of encroachments.

Mr Memon ordered taking serious measures for ending all such encroachments, which caused hindrance to the traffic flow.

He said that district police would be available for help and guidance of the traffic police to this effect.

The city police chief also directed the traffic police to submit a detailed report regarding the causes of traffic accidents and removal of the same within a week.
