Army chief lauds POF’s role in country’s defence

TAXILA: Chief of the Army Staff Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa on Friday termed Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) a force behind the armed forces serving as backbone in defence of Pakistan.

The COAS made these remarks while appreciating the management and staff of the POF for their dedication to optimising the output during his visit to Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF), Wah Cantt, on Friday.

Upon his arrival at the factories, Gen Bajwa was received by POF Chairman Lt Gen Bilal Akbar and other top-ranking officials.

Later, the COAS was given a briefing on the performance of various production units.

Speaking on the occasion, Gen Bajwa said that technological upgradation or modernisation and indigenous development to attain self-sufficiency in defence production were vital to facing challenges of the future battlefield.

The briefing focused on targets achieved, future projects, envisaged modernisation for cost effective and sustainable production and acquisition of modern technology in line with prevailing operational requirements of the armed forces.

The COAS was also apprised on POF’s endeavours for international ventures focusing on exports to contribute to national exchequer.

The army chief visited the display lounge where newly developed defence products were showcased.
