PCSIR: another view

Published November 26, 2020

THIS refers to the article ‘A military is only for war’ (Oct 10). The writer has maligned the Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), terming it a “chronically sick organisation”.

The PCSIR is the only research and development organisation in Pakistan under the Ministry of Science and Technology where hundreds of highly qualified professionals work on ways to utilise natural resources for the development and promotion of industries. It also works to introduce cost-effective technology and encourages academic research in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Since its inception in 1952-53, it has been producing patents and research in various disciplines of biological and physical sciences that is published in leading local and international journals. Focus on environmental research is one of the top priorities of PCSIR.

Since PCSIR is a certified ISO 9001: 2008 organisation, its analytical reports on water, drugs and medicine, etc., using state-of-the-art instruments, are accepted as reliable both locally and globally.

One must also not forget the huge workshops for instant repairs, research-oriented library and warehouses that the PCSIR has under its wings.
