OKARA: Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Qasim Ali Khan has strictly ordered the district judiciary to hear all the cases in their courts as it was the duty of the judicial officers and legal fraternity to minimise the problems and issues being faced by litigants.

District and Sessions Judge Waseemur Rehman Khan Khakwani briefed the CJ about the cases disposed of, pending and under trial in courts across the district.

In a meeting with the office-bearers of all three district bars, CJ Khan assured them of resolving their issues and demands within three weeks if there was no lockdown. The LHC was in contact with the government for establishing a divisional bench of the high court after removing legal hurdles, he added.

Earlier, the CJ reached here to inaugurate the newly completed Family Courts Complex adjacent to the district and sessions courts. He also inaugurated the bachelors hostel and mosque in the judicial colony at the district complex. Under the Clean and Green Pakistan campaign, CJ Khan planted a sapling in the lawn of the district court. LHC Registrar Malik Mushtaq Ahmad Ojla and all judicial officers headed by the district and sessions judge were present.

DBA President Muhammad Ramzan Nadeem Channar, Dipalpur Bar President Fakhar Hayat Wattoo and Renala Bar President Mian Naeem Bashir Kamyana and the respective secretaries called on the CJ.

Okara Bar Secretary Rana Fida Mohyuddin told this correspondent that the bar office-bearers demanded allotment of a piece of land for lawyers’ chambers. The Renala bar reiterated its long-standing demand for land for the extension of judicial complex and to expedite the case of Dipalpur judicial complex construction.

The CJ was informed of the Okara district bar library funds that have been blocked for three years, which the CJ promised to look into on priority.
