Quetta pollution

Published November 22, 2020

POLLUTION tops the list of problems faced by the residents of Quetta. It is very unfortunate to see that people are not willing to learn from their mistakes, and, in fact, do not mind contributing to the ever-growing problem.

Every day I see people litter the streets. During an interaction with people regarding pollution, I was taken aback by the response of an apparently educated person who thought it was completely normal to throw garbage out there on the streets since the city was already polluted and everyone did so.

While the world is doing its best to fight off climate change by taking corrective measures about the environment, we are yet to see someone standing up for these issues locally.

We will have to work collectively if we are to make things right for ourselves and our future generations.

Greta Thunberg, the young climate activist, perfectly summed up what the world needs to hear: “We deserve a safe future. And we demand a safe future. Is it really too much to ask?”
