Karachi Administrator and Commissioner Iftikhar Ali Shallwani has urged multinational companies, civil society and other institutions to cooperate with the city administration in creating awareness about Covid-19.

In a statement, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) quoted Shallwani as saying that "the novel coronavirus is spreading quite rapidly due to the lethargic attitude of the people as they ignored precautionary measures. People are not wearing face masks, not maintaining social distancing and holding events on a regular basis."

The commissioner urged the civil society and institutions to cooperate with the administration in creating awareness about this "deadly virus". He also asked philanthropists to play their role in the distribution of face masks and other preventive equipment among needy people, according to the statement.
