ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is lodging a “very strong” protest with India over the twists being given by the State-owned All-India Radio to last Sunday’s [Nov 1] incident at Karachi Airport in which the Polish Deputy Foreign Minister, Mr Z. Wolniak, was killed.

Stating this, a Foreign Office spokesman said that the propaganda ... presented the Pakistani nation in a degrading manner and was in “very low taste”. He said the tragic incident had shocked the whole nation and it was unfortunate that India should use this opportunity to malign Pakistan.

Meanwhile, observers here noted the “extre­mely constructive statements” made by the Polish President, Marshal Marian Spychalski....

In a message radioed from his special plane, after departure from Karachi, the Polish leader had said he was convinced that the talks he had with President Yahya Khan would contribute to the further development of relations between Pakistan and Poland. Later, on return home, he had said, “We hope that the public opinion will get a true picture of what happened in Karachi after completion of investigations by the Pakistani authorities.”

These observations made by the Polish President according to the observers augured well for further promotion of friendly relations....
