(EDITORIAL): Saboteur of the Simla Conference, disruptor of Muslim solidarity in the Punjab, collaborator of sword-rattlers against Muslims, and Premier by grace of the British bureaucracy, Malik Khizr Hyat Khan Tiwana, has issued a statement claiming himself to be a champion of Pakistan! As the League’s message of freedom from ... British imperialism and Hindu-Sikh aggrandisement begins to stir the long deceived Punjab Muslim into a new awakening, making him realise the fraud which Unionism has perpetrated upon him for years, conspirators against the nation tremble for their future.

Malik Khizr Hyat’s statement is ... a product of panic.... Since the middle of 1944 when the Malik invited expulsion from the League by his refusal to revise a policy suicidal for Muslim Punjab, no one heard him utter the word Pakistan, and all his actions in the context of Punjab and All-India politics betrayed his hostility.... But Punjab’s last Unionist Premier has good reason to be betrayed by fear into such utterances ... for he knows that in spite of … an obliging officialdom and even Viceregal canvassing, the Unionist ship is sinking.
