PESHAWAR: The construction work on 250-bed Fountain House Peshawar (FHP) is nearing completion, and the building will be handed over to the health department in March next year.

The hospital will to cater to the needs of mentally-ill people and drug addicts, besides providing rehabilitation services. This was informed at a meeting held at the Khyber Medical University, according to a press release.

Prof Imran Khan, president Pakistan Psychiatric Society (PPS), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, hoped the Fountain House as a KMU’s constituent, would be developed into a state-of-the-art mental health facility, where besides patients’ care research would be pursued.

Prof Mukhtarul Haq, general secretary, PPS KP, said the provision of modern clinical care facilities would be ensured at FHP. A clinic and rehabilitation unit will soon be set up under the auspices of FHP to treat and rehabilitate drug addicts.
