FWO: Karachi roads

Published October 24, 2020

THE monsoon spell a few months ago have left Karachi in a deplorable state. Effective measures, such as garbage disposal and the repair and reconstruction of roads, can surely help the city return to normal life.

While garbage disposal is being undertaken by the city administration along with a number of NGOs, the roads have generally remained more or less neglected.

There is a case to handover this mammoth task to the Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) which should undertake this job on a war footing by involving reputable contractors registered with civilian authorities.

A number of consultants and reputable private consultants with expertise in undertaking road projects may also be hired for supervision and verification of invoices submitted by the contractors.
