KARACHI: Half-a-dozen horses are pitted against each other in The October Cup which is slated to take place in the Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The October Cup, which figures prominently in a five-race card, has been classified under scale order V and will go over four-and-a-half furlongs.

It is the fourth race in racing order.

The next and concluding race while is day’s feature event — combined scale order II, III & IV has similar number of six horses and will be contested over four-and-a-half furlongs.

The first three races will go over four furlongs with opening race has double digit competitors — 11.

Altogether, 37 horses are expected to vie for honours barring last-minute withdrawal (s).

Two horses — Russian Star and Kuwait Edition — will make their debut in the first race on Sunday.

The first race gets into action at 2.45pm.
