MUZAFFARGARH: The police’s counter terrorism department (CTD) on Thursday arrested two alleged activists of a banned outfit, recovering money from them that was “meant for terrorism financing”.

According to official sources, CTD was informed that two activists of banned Jamatud Dawa (JuD)/Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation (FIF) were present in the limits of Karam Dad Qureshi police station, some 35 kilometers away from city area and collecting funds for financing terrorism.

On receiving the information, a CTD team raided a place and arrested the two activists -- Wajid Ullah and Muhammad Ali, recovering from them money, pamphlets of banned outfit and receipt books.

The sources said that investigation had been launched and further disclosures were expected regarding the JuD/FIF network in the area.

LIQUOR SEIZED: The district police claimed to have arrested 17 suspects and seized 1,560 litre liquor on Thursday during raids by teams of six police stations.

District Police Officer Mohammad Hassan Iqbal said five kilogram charas was also seized during raids in which 11 alleged drug smugglers were arrested.

He said three days back, a team of Karam Dad Qureshi police station had busted an inter-provincial gang of drug smugglers and recovered 80 kilogram charas from them.
