KARACHI: Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) chairman Syed Mustafa Kamal has urged both Sindhis and Muhajirs to foil the ‘Mohajir and Sindh cards’ being used by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), respectively, with their unity.

“I ask my Sindhi brothers that MQM does not represent Muhajirs, so instead of using foul language against them they should highlight the wrongdoings of the Muttahida which conspires to fan hatred among brothers,” he said while speaking at public gathering in the Scheme 33 area here on Sunday evening.

“Muhajirs must not speak against the Sindhi community... it is the PPP, not Sindhis, which is corrupt and cruel. PPP does not represent Sindhis, so Muhajirs should speak against PPP because its rule over Sindh has equally deprived all people of their rights,” he said.

Mr Kamal made it clear that no one could divide Sindh without the will of Sindhi people. “We are happy the way our Sindhi brothers feel.”

Talking about the problems of Karachi, he said all problems would stand resolved if a true population census of Karachi and Hyderabad was held and a provincial finance commission (PFC) award was introduced on the pattern of the the national finance commission award.

Accompanied by PSP president Anis Qaimkhani, he said if attention was not paid to Karachi, it was feared that matters would get out of everyone’s control.

He said that the country needed a new social contract as no ruler cared about people’s problems. “The chief justice of Pakistan is taking notice of the issues of cleaning of drains and collection of garbage. The chief justice and army chief are paying visits to Karachi because they are concerned about it.”

Earlier, people in large numbers gathered to welcome the PSP chief when he paid a visit to their respective neighbourhoods.
