GUJRAT: In a reshuffling of the field staff, the Punjab Land Record Authority (PLRA) transferred at least 47 senior officials from various Arazi Record Centres (ARCs) across the province.

The reshuffling has been made in pursuance of the regulation policy recently approved by the PLRA board of directors, according to which the assistant directors land record (ADLR), director (land record), service centre in-charge (SCI) and assistant service centre in-charge (ASCI) could not be posted in their domicile or native district.

However, the policy will not be applicable to the service centre officials (SCOs) and other junior staff of the ARCs who can only be transferred out of their home district over a complaint or as a punishment.

As per the notification of transfers issued by the PLRA late on Saturday, at least 17 ADLRs, including that of Gujrat, and 20 directors were transferred with immediate effect across the province.

Official sources said that though the reshuffling of at least five SCIs and as many SCOs had also been ordered, but these were part of routine transfers and not linked with the new policy.

Ali Raza Buttar, a spokesman for the PLRA, told Dawn that PLRA Director General Moazzam Iqbal had ordered these transfers and in the first phase, mostly ADLRs and directors had been reshuffled. In the second phase, the SCIs and ASCIs would also be sent out of their native districts.
