KARACHI: Jaahid Ali and Naveed Khan starred with brilliant centuries as Dawood Sports and Alamgir Gymkhana cruised into the semi-finals of the All-Karachi Prof Ejaz Ahmed Faruqi Invitation Cricket Tournament here on Thursday.

After restricting Airport Gymkhana to 225-9 in the stipulated 45 overs at the TMC Ground, Dawood Sports rode on an unbroken third-wicket partnership of 146 between opener Naveed, who struck 107 off 136 balls (three fours and two sixes) and Azhar Shah (73 off 67, five sixes and three fours) to clinch victory by eight wickets.

In the other quarter-final at the KCCA Stadium, opener Jaahid Ali scored a 96-ball 101 (nine boundaries) to help Alamgir Gymkhana amass 295-8 in 45 overs. Off-spinner Aliyan Mahmood grabbed 4-17 as Shameel CC mustered 102 all out in 33.2 overs to lose by 193 runs.
