KOHAT: The Hangu district administration has deployed 4,000 police and Frontier Constabulary personnel to provide security for the Muharram 7, 9 and 10 gatherings.

District police officer Shahid Khan in a statement on Wednesday said barricades had been put in place at 57 points in the city and strict checking of vehicles at entry and exit points of the district was going on. Besides snap checking was also ongoing. He said pillion-riding, use of hate material and loudspeakers other than for necessary purposes, display of weapons and use of tinted glass in vehicles had also been banned under section 144.

Meanwhile, 139 suspects and two proclaimed offenders were been rounded up along with weapons and drugs during a crackdown on criminals in the border town of Shakardarra and rural areas of Lachi tehsil in Kohat.

The police teams checked 130 houses and 20 hotels and held 13 guests over illegal stay. The operations were conducted in Kareemabad, Nadarka, Lachi Payan, Lachi Bala, Chor Lakki, Dhondka, Bargazai Kalan, Bori Saghri, Ghurzandi, darmalak, Mohsin Khel,

The seizure included two Kalashnikovs, three shotguns, a rifle, nine pistols, 500 cartridges, 10kg hashish, 310 grams ice and 150 grams heroin.
