SWABI: A man and his wife were allegedly killed for honour here on Saturday, the police said.

SHO Pumuli police station Mehmood Khan said the couple riding a motorcycle was targeted in Shewa village by their rivals.

He said the woman belonging to Ahad Khan village of Razaar was engaged with a man of the same village, but later she fled with a man of Bakar village of Saleem Khan union council, and later they solemnised court marriage.

However, he said the marriage had angered the family of the man with whom she had been engaged.

SHO Mehmood said the father of the deceased man got registered an FIR against three persons, including the man with whom the deceased woman had been engaged.

He said the bodies were taken to Kalu Khan Civil Hospital for autopsy.

Meanwhile, a teenage boy belonging to Batakara village of Topi was electrocuted. The victim was identified as Mezan Khan, 14.

Also in the day, five people were injured when a van and a car collided at Karnal Sher Khan Interchange on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway on Saturday, Rescue 1122 officials said.
