Man drowns in dam

GUJAR KHAN: A man drowned in Ughahun Dam near Guliyana on Thursday.

According to details, Wasif Javed, resident of Khabal, drowned while he was swimming in the dam.

Rescue 1122 divers started the operation to retrieve his body but it had to be postponed in the evening.

Divers will restart the operation today. The deceased had been serving in Punjab police in Lahore and had returned home for eid.

Residents of the area have urged the assistant commissioner to impose a strict ban on swimming in local dams as many have lost their lives already.
