TAXILA: Two people, including a toddler, drowned separately in Attock on Saturday.

The three-year-old girl fell into a well, in her house at Meharabad in the limits of Hassanabdal police.

According to district emergency officer Dr Ishfaq Mian, the child was playing in the courtyard of her house when she accidently slipped into the well which was without a cover. A rescue team reached the spot and shifted the baby to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A man drowned while his two friends were saved in a water channel in Dhoke Baloch in the limits of Bassal police.

Police and rescue sources said Iqbal, 27, along with his two friends went to the channel where they went into the deep water and lost control. People present on the spot saved the two persons but Iqbal drowned.

His body was later recovered and shifted to a hospital.

Four arrested

Four people allegedly involved in two murder cases were arrested by Taxila police.

Subdivisional Police Officer DSP Tahir Kazmi told newsmen that Azmat Khan along with four other people had killed two persons, including a councillor, and injured five during a reconciliation meeting in 2019 and fled.

Police arrested his three companions while Azmat Khan and another suspect were at large and declared proclaimed offenders by a court.

Mr Kazmi said police raided a school and arrested Mr Khan.

He also said Wah Cantonment police arrested three people, including two women, for killing a man. He said the body of Sheikh Mohammad Ayub was found outside his house. A police team led by station house officer Kamran Kiyani resolved the mystery within a week. He said the deceased’s wife, daughter and her friend turned out to be the killers of the man.

He said the suspects confessed to killing the man.
