KARACHI, Sept 16: Unannounced load shedding in the city has added to the miseries of people as in this hot and sultry weather disruption of power supply for 12 hours is a matter which called for immediate attention of the government and Karachi Electricity Supply Corporation.

These views were expressed by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s members of provincial assembly Nasrullah Khan Shaji, Hameedullah Khan and Yunous Barai. Criticizing the frequent power breakdowns causing mental torture and physical stress, they pointed out that power rates were being increased every now and then but the KESC did not pay heed to the problems of its consumers.

The MPAs said that the power breakdowns had also resulted in water crisis in different localities, which further multiplied their agonies. They warned that if KESC authorities did not change this attitude, people could turn violent creating law and order problem for which the government would be responsible. They demanded that the KESC should ensure immediate stoppage to undeclared load shedding and power cuts.
