Karachi registered 422 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, according to the provincial health ministry — the city's lowest single-day total of new infections in over two months.

The last time the metropolis had reported this low a daily figure of new cases was on May 7, when it recorded 358 infections.

Daily cases have been on the decline in Karachi, the country's worst-affected city, since last month, when it reported daily numbers well above 2,000 cases.

An earlier version of this story cited a CM House statement as saying that 312 new cases were reported in Karachi. The correct figure, according to the health department, has been updated.
