Dam projects

THIS is apropos the news ‘Agreement for $1.5bn hydropower project signed’ (July 7). Indeed, construction of dams is the top most need of Pakistan. But, hydropower projects such as Diamer-Basha, Harpo, Bunji, Tank Zam, and Murunj dam and many other such projects are still not complete.

Governments in the past have initiated and heavily invested in dam projects, but, unfortunately, all their efforts went in vain owning to political discord. The PTI leadership should complete these dam projects first instead of signing agreements for building new hydropower projects.
