UPPER DIR: The main Dir-Kumrat Road was cleared to vehicular traffic on Tuesday.

Heavy rains had brought debris onto the road, blocking it at several places from Sheringal to Patrak. The road blockade had stranded the tourists as well as the locals visiting the picturesque Kumrat valley.

However, the Sheringal administration cleared the road partially to traffic to facilitate the tourists.

Additional assistant commissioner, Sheringal, Mohammad Saqib Khan along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Highway Authority engineers and heavy machinery removed the debris from the road at various places.

KILLED: Two persons, including a woman, were killed and one was injured in an incident in remote Barikot locality of Kohistan valley on Tuesday, police said.

They said the injured was shifted to the district headquarters hospital.

The police said the cause of the killing could not be known, however they had registered a case and started further investigations.

Meanwhile, body of a 12-year-old boy, who had drowned in River Usheri, was recovered on Tuesday.

The boy had come to the Laamchar tourist spot along with his family three days ago, but fell down into the river while watching a waterfall at a height of 25 feet.

The divers of Rescue 1122, Al-Khidmat Foundation, a local welfare organisation, civil defence and locals had been searching for the body for three days, but could not trace him.

However, the other day a local person, Mohammad Hussain while searching for the body spotted it in the river about one kilometre from the incident place. Later, the body was handed over to relatives.
