LAHORE: Twenty-five more patients died of Covid-19 in Punjab during the last 24 hours, taking the death toll in the province to 1,854 so far.

Of these, eight died in Lahore where the number of victims has reached 705. Punjab also reported 1,341 new cases of Covid-19 during the last 24 hours, including 464 in Lahore.

According to the latest official figures, the total number of confirmed cases in Punjab is 80,297, including 41,880 in Lahore. The situation is also alarming in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala and Gujrat that were reporting the highest deaths and confirmed cases of the virus as compared to other districts.

A spokesperson for the health department said 7,196 coronavirus tests were performed during the last 24 hours in Punjab.
