LAHORE: The provincial government has allocated Rs119 billion under the head of non-development budget for Punjab Police Department for the fiscal year 2020-21.

Police department had demanded Rs158bn from the government but the government had advised it to seek Rs131bn.

However, the government had slashed Rs12 billion from even the advised amount and allocated Rs119bn for the department.

Last year, the government had allocated Rs115bn in the budget for the police department but had to release an additional Rs14 billion to meet the expenses. The government had allocated Rs10bn less budget as the police department had spent Rs129bn last year.

The department would spend Rs100.54bn in terms of salaries and for regular and other allowances, employees’ related expenses, operating expenses, retirement benefits, grants, subsidies and write-offs of loans/advances, transfers, repairs and maintenance and expenditure on acquiring physical assets.
