Punjab Minister for Health Dr Yasmin Rashid has said that some areas of Lahore are going to be put under complete lockdown for 15 days from midnight tomorrow due to rapid increase in coronavirus cases.

These areas include:

• Shahdra
• Nistar Ground
• Allama Iqbal Town
• Lahore Cantt
• Walled City
• Mozang
• Shad Bagh
• Harbanspura
• Gulberg

The health minister said more than 300 cases had been recorded in each of these areas which is why the decision to enforce a lockdown was taken there.

Rashid said pharmacies, tandoors and dairy shops will remain open in these areas and and so will any factories that are making protective equipment.

"These areas will be locked down for at least two weeks and then we will observe the results."
