Deaths from the Covid-19 epidemic in Italy have climbed by 53 against 71 yesterday, the Civil Protection Agency said, but the daily tally of new cases rose to 379 from 202 on Wednesday.
The total death toll since the outbreak came to light on February 21 now stands at 34,167, the agency said, the fourth highest in the world after those of the United States, Britain and Brazil.
The number of confirmed cases amounts to 236,142, the seventh-highest global tally behind those of the US, Russia, Brazil, Spain, Britain and India.
