HARIPUR: Two persons including a miller were killed in Ghazi tehsil, police said here on Thursday.

Quoting eyewitnesses, police said that Shafaqat Ali, the owner of water mill, was grinding wheat flour in Qazi Pur village when the heavy stone of the mill fell broken and its splinters hit his head, leaving him critically injured.

The local people shifted him to tehsil headquarters hospital Ghazi but he succumbed to head injuries.

In the second incident, Tasawar, a resident of Sherawal village, was busy in work on the roof of his under-construction house when he accidentally touched the over passing electricity wires. He was electrocuted and died on the spot.

Meanwhile, a transgender person was shot and critically injured over friendship dispute in Haripur, police said.

Mujahid alias Honey, a resident of Lahore who recently moved to Haripur was living in Muhallah Kund Darwesh, told police in injured condition that Yasir Khan, a resident of Panian village, developed friendship with her and used to visit her rented house.

On Wednesday night, he visited her residence and got infuriated when he saw some other people, who came to hire her for a marriage ceremony.

The charged accused, according to the victim, beat her mercilessly before putting three bullets into her body with a 30 bore pistol.

The critically injured victim was shifted to Haripur Trauma Centre from where she was referred to Ayub Teaching Hospital Abbottabad. According to hospital sources, her condition was critical.

The accused managed to escape from the crime scene, police said. They added that a criminal case was registered against the attacker for attempt to murder the transgender persons.

Shemale Association Haripur has condemned attack on the transgender person and termed it an act of terrorism.

The office-bearers of the association demanded early arrest of the accused and protection to the community.
