Deaths from the Covid-19 epidemic in Italy have risen by 88, the Civil Protection Agency said, while the rise in the tally of new cases slowed to 177 from 321.

The total death toll since the outbreak came to light on February 21 now stands at 33,689, the agency said, the third-highest in the world after those of the United States and Britain.
The number of confirmed cases amounts to 234,013, the sixth-highest global tally behind those of the US, Brazil, Russia, Spain and Britain.
