MANSEHRA: Two youngsters drowned while fishing at a local stream in Goshali area of Upper Kohistan as one of them attempted to rescue the other who slipped into deep water suddenly.

“The volunteers of civil defence department and local divers have started efforts to recover bodies of both the victims, but gushing water in the stream has been hampering their efforts,” Ahsanul Haq , the Civil Defence’s chief warden, told mediapersons in Dasu on Tuesday.

Mohammad Yasir, 12, and his friend Shamsur Rehman, 13, were fishing in Goshali stream in Jalkot area when the former suddenly slipped into water and the latter jumped into water to rescue him, but he also drowned.

Mr Haq said that he was optimistic that the bodies would be recovered once the flow of water in the stream became normal. He said that survival chances of both had vanished because the water was snow cold.
