PESHAWAR: Two smart sanitising walk-through gates have been installed at the Khyber Teaching Hospital as part of safety measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

A statement issued here on Monday said one of the gates was donated by the Town-III Peshawar administration and the other was installed from the hospital resources.

One walk-through gate has been installed at the entrance of the accident and emergency department, and the other near the isolation unit established for management of Covid-19 patients.

The gates automatically spray sanitisers as soon as a person passes through them. The gates would benefit both the employees of the hospital and the patients and their attendants.

The gates are meant to reduce the chances of infections, including Covid-19.

Hospital’s director Dr Mohammad Zafar Afridi, who inaugurated the gates, thanked the Town-III administration for donating one of the gates.

The Town-III administration has also been carrying out chlorinated spray in the accident and emergency, outpatients’ departments and residential complex of the hospital.

Earlier, the tehsil municipal officer Anees ur Rehman and chief officer Town-III Nasrullah Shah handed over the sanitising walk-through gate to the management of the hospital.
