SWABI: Adviser to the chief minister on industry, Abdul Karim, said on Thursday that construction of the women and children hospital (WCH) in the district would cost Rs600 million and work on the project was expected to be started soon.

Talking to mediapersons here, he said that funds would be provided by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government and there would be no problem of budget. All other requirements of the project had been completed, he said.

The adviser said that soon after assuming power the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government had announced that keeping in view the increasing population and requirement of health facilities the government would build a hospital for women and children.

He said that the government had already acquired 20-kanal land for the project near Kunda basic health unit. Answering a question, he said that the hospital would have 250 beds and adequate space for its expansion in future.

He said that National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser had played a big role in initiation of the project and allocation of funds for it.

WALK-THROUGH GATE: The provincial local government department has set up a sanitising walk-through gate in Chota Lahor tehsil hospital to facilitate people and check the spread of coronavirus.

Special secretary local government Mutasimbillah said that the government had completed the task of installing the gates in Topi, Swabi and Chota Lahor.One gate in Razaar tehsil would also be installed soon under the programme, he said.

Other speakers said it was responsibility of the people to follow the instructions given to them regularly by the government to protect themselves from the virus.

ARRESTED: The police here on Thursday arrested six people for violating ban on quail fighting. The district administration had banned the fight because the people indulged in gambling through it besides causing injuries to the birds.
