KARACHI: The local government department has started vaccination of stray dogs in the city, it emerged on Thursday.

Local Government Secretary Roshan Shaikh told Dawn that the vaccination campaign was initially launched in districts South and East of Karachi, adding that the campaign would be extended to all districts of the province.

He said that as many as 65 dogs were vaccinated in the two districts of Karachi, in collaboration with ACF, RFP and Indus Hospital and the vaccinated dogs were released in their areas as they were now “harmless” for humans.

The LG secretary said that Sindh was the pioneer in initiating this project which was the most scientific and humane method of checking the population of stray dogs.
