LAHORE: A woman died at the Mayo Hospital on Wednesday taking the tally of coronavirus deaths in the city to 16.

Nine deaths have been reported in Lahore, four in Rawalpindi besides one each in Rahim Yar Khan, Jhelum, Faisalabad and Gujrat.

Meanwhile, 134 more patients tested positive for the virus and they included nine jail inmates.

According to the official figures, the total number of the confirmed cases of Tableeghi Jamaat preachers suffering from coronavirus is 611 in Punjab. Of the 71 new cases, 51 were reported from Raiwind Markaz while others from Sheikhupura and Bahawalnagar.

Similarly, 43 out of 63 confirmed cases were reported from Lahore (other than those testing positive in Raiwind Markaz) taking the total number of patients to 340 in the provincial capital.

After nine new cases, the total number of prisoners testing positive for the virus in jails of Punjab reached 58.
