MUZAFFARABAD: A man died and another survived with injuries after both were hit by an avalanche in a remote Neelum valley locality, police said on Wednesday.

Riaz Butt and Sofiyan Butt were on their way to bring fodder for cattle in snowbound Chak Gagai in the upper belt of the valley when an avalanche struck them sometime on Tuesday, the official said. Villagers rescued them but Riaz did not survive.

Since there is limited access to communication in the area, police came to know about the incident much later after avillager descended on to the main Neelum Valley Road and reported at the police post in Janawai village.
