LAHORE: A student of chemical engineering allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself in his temple in Gulshan-i-Ravi on Saturday.

The deceased, identified as 24-year-old Amlesh Behzad Niazi, was the eldest son of Inspector Rafiullah Niazi who was posted at Sheikhupura. He was studying chemical engineering at a Taxila university.

Iqbal Town Division SP said Amlesh was depressed these days as he was suspended by his university over class attendance, which was less than the university criteria to appear in the examination.

On Saturday, he picked up the official pistol of his father, went to the rooftop of his house and shot himself in the temple. Inspector Rafiuallah was also present at home at that time, the SP said

The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family after completing legal formalities.
