ALL public and private schools have been closed owing to coronavirus since the last week of February, at least in Sindh. Unfortunately, there is no clear-cut policy from the government about private school fees in these circumstances.

In Sindh, schools will remain closed at least till May 30. Parents are confused and not sure whether they pay school fee or not for March, April and May. All private schools have been constantly asking parents to pay fees for these months, with the fee for the month of March already paid.

Unlike previous year, we are facing trying times and not all parents are in a position to pay hefty school fees, especially when schools are closed and no staff is on duty because of a lockdown ordered by the Sindh government.

There should be a clear policy relating to school fees for April and May. This needs to be followed across the country.
