KHAR: The police on Wednesday arrested 10 people for violating section 144 imposed by the Bajaur district administration to check spread of coronavirus.

Officials said the violators were detained from Khar and others bazaars during an action.

They said several police teams visited the bazaars and requested the residents to abide by the restrictions and return to their homes soon after shopping.

However, the people continued to roam the bazaars, forcing the personnel to pick them up.

The officials said the police had decided to further toughen the restrictions to avoid unnecessary moment of people.

Meanwhile, witnesses told Dawn that the police personnel also beat up a number of people gathered in the bazaars.

It has been observed that the residents have largely ignored the government’s instruction on social-distancing.
