PESHAWAR: Some employees of a basic health unit in Nihag Dara area of Upper Dir on Monday expressed concern over lack of security at the health facility and demanded of the provincial government to arrest the suspects involved in a firing incident.

Speaking at a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club, the health workers led by Jahanzeb Khan and Niaz Mohammad Khan said some influential people of Nihag Dara were involved in the firing incident as they wanted to get their relatives appointed on different posts in the BHU.

“Such people are threatening us with dire consequences if we do not tender resignations,” they said and added that local police had registered a case against Mohammad Zeb and Bakht Bahadur, but they were yet to be arrested.

The BHU employees said the government had purchased the land for the health facility from the two persons and also appointed one of their relatives in the facility but they wanted to occupy all the seats of non-medical staff.

The employees demanded of the government to ensure their safety.
