CHAGAI: The local administration has set on fire beds and other stuff at a quarantine centre after more than 1,800 pilgrims, who had arrived from Iran, left the facility set up at Taftan border.

The quarantine centre had been set up at Pakistan House near the border with Iran in Chagai district to screen the pilgrims for coronavirus.

Taftan Tehsildar Zahoor Ahmed Baloch told Dawn on Saturday that a large number of beds and other stuff were destroyed on the recommendation of health officials.

Later, the whole area was sprayed to disinfect the quarantine centre and fresh beds were fixed for the pilgrims returning from Iran daily. He said more than 100 pilgrims arrived from Iran on Saturday who were taken to the quarantine centre after their screening at Taftan border.
