ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has sought suggestions from the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) regarding requirements of public toilets in the city.

According to the CDA, after getting input from the MCI spaces would be allocated for construction of new public toilets. The CDA said a plan had also been sought from the MCI for channelisation/cleanliness of nullahs.

Last week, CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed and Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz held a meeting and discussed the two environmental issues.

According to a statement issued by the CDA on Tuesday, a meeting was held at the CDA headquarters which was attended by senior officers from the two organisations.

The participants decided that the MCI would provide a report containing names of sites for construction of public toilets at the earliest and the CDA in consultation with the MCI will identify places within a week so that the same could be placed before the CDA Board for approval on Monday.

After approval, these sites would be handed over to the MCI for construction of the toilets.

The meeting also decided to carry out immediate cleanliness/channelisation of nullahs. In this connection, maps and other details of nullahs were presented before the meeting by the sanitation directorate of the MCI.

The meeting agreed on construction of check dams at appropriate locations, including Saidpur, in addition to conducting a survey of houses from where sewage entered natural streams.
