SWABI: All members of the society should fully participate in the Clean and Green Pakistan plantation campaign to make all areas of the district free of pollution.

Officials of the district administration, tehsil municipal officers (TMOs) and political activists said this in separate gatherings on Friday, which marked the launch of tree plantation campaign across the district.

They said that after planting the saplings they should protect them and work for their survival.

Deputy commissioner Shahid Mehmood planted a sapling at the police lines in Shahmansoor Township where DPO Imran Shahid was also present. The DC asked the officials to run the campaign with a complete dedication for the better future of the country.

Qaumi Watan Party district chairman Masood Jabar asked his party workers to plant more and more saplings in their respective areas, which would not only make the environment clean, but also prove financially beneficial for them.

Other leaders urged the forest department to run a full-fledged campaign to educate the people and arrange free distribution of saplings.

The University of Swabi and Women University, Swabi, have also launched separate tree plantation campaigns.

ARRESTED: Police have arrested three alleged burglars and recovered from them the cash and valuables they had stolen from a house here in Tordher.

Registering an FIR, a resident of Tordher had told police a few days ago that he along with his family had gone for attending a marriage party and when they returned their house was looted by unidentified burglars.

The police arrested three burglars, identified as Abbas Khan, Tahir Khan and Zakir Khan, and recovered from them a Kalashnikov, Rs73,000 cash, a pistol and other looted items.

Tordher SHO Taj Mohammad said that further investigation had been started.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist died after he was hit by a loaded tractor trolley here on Friday.

Registering an FIR, Abdullah Khan told police that his brother Hassan Khan was hit by a tractor trolley near Yar Hussain main market and he died on the spot. The police have started search to arrest the driver.
