SAHIWAL: The Higher Education Commission (HEC), Punjab, has approved Rs 1.36 billion development grant for the University of Sahiwal.

It is said that grant has been approved for the financial Year of 2020-21.

UoS VC Dr. Muhammad Nasir Afzal told Dawn the grant would be used to construct academic block, administration block, two separate boys and girls hostels and university’s main auditorium.

Dr Nasir said the university was still facing `a lot of financial constraints’ and the provincial government had been informed. He urged the government to allocate the required funds during the 2020-2021fiscal.

Dr Nasir also demanded more land for the university campus. The existing campus has been built on Mall Mandi land allocated by the Punjab Revenue Board in 2013.
