Week-long spring fest begins in DG Khan

DERA GHAZI KHAN: Traditional week-long spring festival and horse and cattle show began here on Tuesday after a gap of five years.

The inauguration ceremony of the festival that was opened by deputy commissioner featured dances of camels, horses and goats.

On the occasion of inaugration, traditional jhumar dance was also performed and a horse race was organised too.

At the venue of the week-long festival, makeshift shops of sweets and toys were also established by the local traders for the visitors.

A makeshift zoo, a ‘death well’ and a circus are the main attractions for the visitors who comprise mostly of the residents of the rural areas.

On the first day, a large number of people from different walks of life visited the festival.

President of Indus Horse Riding Club told Dawn that as many as 2,000 horses of different breeds had been brought to the festival for sale.

He said more than 10 breeds of horses had been brought for sale at the festival from all over the country.
