Winnie the Pooh joins the LEGO portfolio

LEGO is reportedly set to develop and launch a new LEGO Winnie the Pooh offering in partnership with Disney, as part of its LEGO Ideas range.

LEGO Ideas is a LEGO fan invention platform in which ideas and builds are pitched to the Danish toymaker, put to a vote, and to a panel of LEGO judges who then choose which ideas to bring to shelves.

In its latest round, 11 different models were fighting for the coveted win, but whittled down to two selected winners that includes the Winnie the Pooh LEGO Ideas kit. The upcoming launch will include mini figures of Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Owl, Piglet, and Eeyore. It will also feature the iconic tree house in Hundred Acre Wood, complete with a full interior.

LEGO will also be launching a new non-licensed build via the platform in the shape of the Medieval Blacksmith, an ‘olde worlde’ style cottage complete with exposed beams and medieval style brickwork.

Superman: Red Son world premiere

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will present the World Premiere of Superman: Red Son, the next entry in the popular, ongoing series of DC universe movies, in the SilverScreen Theatre at The Pacific Design Centre in West Hollywood on February 24.

Based on DC’s famed Elseworlds tale from 2003, Superman: Red Son takes place in an alternate reality where the spaceship bearing the last survivor of Krypton crash lands — not in rural Kansas, but in Stalinist Russia.

Produced by Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment, Superman: Red Son will be distributed February 25, 2020, by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment on Digital, and April 17 on 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Combo Pack, Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD.

Aladdin sequel in the works

Sources say Aladdin’s sequel is in early development, but after spending the last six months figuring out what direction to take the next film, producers seem to have found their path.

Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich, who produced the original, are back producing through their Rideback banner, with Ryan Halprin executive producing.

It’s unknown at this time whether director Guy Ritchie will return. Producers hope to bring back stars Will Smith, Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott, but offers won’t be extended to the cast until a script is ready.

The film will be a theatrical release, not a Disney Plus title. The original animated movie had two straight-to-video sequels, but sources say this new take is completely original and not based on those ideas.
