MUZAFFARGARH: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has blocked 30,000 beneficiaries of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) across the district.

According to BISP officials, of 87,683 beneficiaries in Muzaffargarh tehsil, 11,553 were removed whereas 18,000 names were blocked from other three tehsil of the district.

BISP official Mehr Asif said: “The Nadra has blocked those people who have jobs, bank accounts, land holding, national tax number and who visited Saudi Arabia for Haj or Umra.”

He said Nadra had also blocked the people who did not withdraw their BISP payments or those who died.

Meanwhile, dozens of women are worried about removal of their names from the list. Awami Raj Party chairman Jamshed Ahmad Dasti said the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government had [allegedly] failed to provide relief to poor families. He said he had arranged BISP cards of poor families which had been blocked.
