PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Apex Committee discussed the development spending in merged tribal districts in its meeting held here on Thursday.

A statement issued here said that KP Governor Shah Farman chaired the meeting, which took place at the Governor’s House.

It was attended by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan, chief secretary Dr Kazim Niaz, Inspector General of Police Sanaullah Abbasi, Corps Commander, Peshawar, Dr Noman Mehmood and other senior officials.

It said that the committee discussed and reviewed overall security situation in the province, particularly in merged districts.

The forum was briefed about the progress being made to extend administrative, judicial and police structures to the merged districts.

It also discussed provision and utilisation of development funds in merged districts and compensation package for the affected people of Waziristan.

Mr Farman said that tribesmen had rendered great sacrifices for the country and the government was taking steps to address the sense of deprivation among them.

He said that all basic facilities would be provided to them by executing public welfare projects.
